We have traditionally expected a lot from our Presidents.  They are not only the head of government but our head of state, and thus, in their person, are supposed to represent the ideals of our nation.  All of us. At moments of change and disorientation, they are supposed to be the keel that steadies us.

We are in a moment now unlike perhaps any other in our history.  The winds of chaos swirl from many directions brought forth by an administration awash in controversy and dysfunction, and lurching under the shadow of a scandal of constitutional proportions.  And now, a new hurricane appears on the horizon around sexual harrassment and assault.  It is one that no one really saw coming, but now has engulfed our nation in a way that demands leadership from the highest level.  But President Trump, not only in his temperament but in his personal history, is uniquely unqualified to lead on this issue.  What remains is a moral vacuum that will channel us into a direction none of us can really predict.  CNN has more on the vanishing moral authority from the White House.
