Tonight should be a fascinating political theater. On the one hand you have Donald Trump in Charlotte, North Carolina with his auditorium full of the faithful. We know what will be said. We know the hateful attacks and the lies are coming. The applause is good for Trump’s ego, so he will feed red meat to his masses. There will be attacks on Joe Biden, support for Bernie Sanders. Trump has already tried to stir the pot saying Democrats are staging a coup against Bernie.

Contrast that with what will happen in Dallas. Call it a case of unity vs. all about me. Joe Biden will hold a rally where he will be joined on stage by two former rivals. Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar have announced in the last 24 hours that they are dropping out of the race and endorsing Biden. It is the Democratic moderates making a stand before Super Tuesday where Bernie Sanders was expected to do well.

Have the dynamics of the Democratic race changed so rapidly in the last 48 hours that Biden could surprise Bernie? Many votes have already been cast in states such as California where Sanders is expected to win by a wide margin. The bigger questions are in Texas and North Carolina where the gap between Sander and Biden is close.

We will have highlights of both events later Monday night.
