Former President Barack Obama has kept a low profile in recent days. But we can glean a few of his thoughts through his social media.

It’s interesting that when Donald Trump said we have to open the country back up soon, Obama stressed that we should “maintain social distancing policies,” and emphasized we need to help medical professionals out by “staying home.”

And the articles he is sharing also say a lot, like this New Yorker piece that ends with “Right now, it’s the calm before the storm. Just watch. Shit’s really going to hit the fan.”

Obama has tremendous social media reach, and clout, as NBC News reports:

Obama’s posts have generated plenty of engagement and have reached tens of millions. Last week, there were more than 120,000 retweets on his tweet linking to a Washington Post interactive that showed how the curve of infections can be flattened under various simulations. That article, as one Post reporter tweeted, became the publication’s most read, topping even news of Trump’s “Access Hollywood” tape in 2016.
