President Joe Biden has what may be the best opportunity of his presidency to go big with pandemic relief. Many analysts didn’t believe Biden would get a “honeymoon,” but look at this: A new poll out by Quinnipiac shows widespread approval for his $1.9 trillion plan:

As CNN writes of Biden’s timing— [it] “reflects the unique circumstances of early 2021: a deadly pandemic that could subside with an effective vaccination push, a battered economy poised to rebound when it does.”

The poll also confirms Americans are paying close attention to politics and their politicians. Nancy Pelosi is by far the most popular Congressional leader.

Tomorrow, Pelosi and House Democrats will force a vote to strip Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments. This comes after minority leader Kevin McCarthy refused to take action against the conspiracy loving Congresswoman. Pelosi said, “McCarthy’s failure to lead his party effectively hands the keys over to Greene.”

So who has the upper hand here? Without a doubt, it’s Pelosi. Not only does her party control the House, thereby having the necessary votes for a simple majority (that’s all she needs to oust Greene from committees), but Pelosi is also overwhelmingly more popular than McCarthy. Quinnipiac poll found 45% approve of Pelosi’s performance vs. only 27% who approve of McCarthy.

With those numbers, it is curious why McCarthy has chosen the path he is on now and whether he still is truly leading the GOP in Congress. As Pelosi says, “McCarthy has chosen to make House Republicans ‘the party of conspiracy theories and QAnon’ and Rep. Greene is in the driver’s seat.”
