An opinion piece published in the Washington Post is causing a storm on both sides of the aisle. Many Republicans long hung on every word from conservative columnist George Will, but now it looks like he’s parted ways with the GOP (at least until Donald Trump is out of office). As Raw Story wrote, “hell just froze over.”

Will penned a scathing piece titled, “Vote against the GOP this November.” To be clear, he isn’t switching to the Democratic party, not even close, he just doesn’t want to be part of Trump’s Republican party. The reasons he cited include:

“Ryan and many other Republicans have become the president’s poodles”

“Congressional Republicans (congressional Democrats are equally supine toward Democratic presidents) have no higher ambition than to placate this president.”

“Meaningless noise is this administration’s appropriate libretto because, just as a magnet attracts iron filings, Trump attracts, and is attracted to, louts.”

“In today’s GOP, which is the president’s plaything, he is the mainstream.”
