George W. Bush has stayed relatively quiet since leaving the White House almost 12 years ago. He is very careful with what he comments on, but today he clearly felt compelled to speak out against what happened at the Capitol. In a statement, Bush seems to be talking directly to Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, and anyone else who has been contesting the election. One notable passage reads:

“This is how election results are disputed in a banana republic – not our democratic republic.”
