Former F.B.I. Director James Comey wrote meticulous notes after each of his seven conversations with Donald Trump.  Those notes, drafted into memos, with redactions, were sent from the Justice Department to members of Congress who promptly leaked them to the press.

From The New York Times:

  • The memos, running 15 pages in total, detail a series of phone calls and encounters between the two men in the months leading up to Mr. Comey’s firing and offer an intimate look at interactions among the highest levels of government.
  • The broad outlines of the memos have already been reported by The Times, and were relayed by Mr. Comey in testimony before the Senate and in his recent memoir, “A Higher Loyalty.”
  • But they are believed to be key evidence in a possible obstruction of justice case against Mr. Trump being pursued by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III.

From CNN:

  • There are several recurring themes through the conversations: Trump frequently brings up leaks to the media and they discuss trying to find the source of the leaks.
  • Trump also at least twice brought up the “golden showers thing” and said he was concerned even if there was a small chance his wife had thought it was true.
