Axios: FBI Investigating Alleged Massive Scheme To Illegally Finance Susan Collins’ Re-Election Bid
An unsealed search warrant application shows the FBI believes $150k was illegally funneled to a pro-Collins super PAC.
A federal investigation is underway into a campaign-finance scheme involving a Hawaii defense firm that may have provided large amounts of campaign cash to a super-PAC dedicated to getting Maine Senator Susan Collins re-elected last year.
The Axios exclusive also notes that there is no indication that Senator Collins had any knowledge of the alleged scheme. A Collins spokesperson also denied any involvement in an emailed statement.
