Politico: McConnell: Senate will pass resolution blocking Trump’s border emergency
The Senate majority leader had urged the president not to declare a national emergency after Congress rejected his demands to fund the wall.
Get ready for Donald Trump’s first veto. If (and when) that happens it would be up to Congress to override the veto, but that won’t be easy. It would require a two-thirds majority. Chances are slim that would ever be achieved.
With the Senate poised to reject Trump's use of emergency powers, and Trump poised to veto it, history will record a perfect reflection of this man's presidency:
His first (maybe only) veto will be of a measure declaring him as having acted beyond his constitutional authority.
