One person was killed in a mass shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon at an production plant in Bryan, Texas.

Four others were critically wounded during the shooting at the facility for Kent Moore Cabinets, according to authorities on the scene. Police arrived at 2:30pm after getting reports of shots fired. By the time they arrived, it was over.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott told reporters the suspect was in custody. In addition, The Texas Department of Public Safety says a state trooper was shot while chasing the person believed to be the shooter. The trooper is in the hospital in serious but stable condition.

It is not known if the suspect worked at the plant, or what connection he may have to the facility and the employees there.

Governor Abbott, just hours after tweeting that President Biden’s just-announced executive actions against gun violence were a “liberal power grab,” tweeted out a statement of support and prayers for the victims of the latest mass shooting in the U.S.
