Senator Rand Paul spoke to CBS today about the attack that left him with several broken ribs, calling the recovery “a living hell.” It’s his most in-depth interview since the bizarre and still unexplained incident. Paul was mowing his lawn back in November when his neighbor allegedly jumped him.

That neighbor, Rene Boucher, has pleaded not guilty to assault charges. His attorney has said the dispute was over landscaping issues, but Senator Paul’s side said the attack may have been politically motivated.  No federal charges have been filed, only fourth-degree assault, a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $500 fine.
