Here’s the problem with any Donald Trump speech. We have a year of hate, of divisiveness, of intolerance, of anger, of bigotry…we could go on… So when the President tries to act presidential, it just feels phony. Does anyone believe these words? Why would the American people buy it? We have too much history, boatloads of tweets and lies, and many tweets that are lies. Tonight came across like a badly written script performed by an actor stretching to be sincere in this reality show we call America. We’d love to know your thoughts. Here are some other reactions from bird-land:
Being speaker or VP during a SOTU must be difficult. That's a long time to precisely manage your facial expressions in a high-stakes livecast before an audience of tens of millions.

The notion that Guantanamo is worthwhile would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic. In addition to the incalculable human suffering, it costs taxpayers more than $445 million a year to detain the 41 men now there. #SOTU

Pres. Trump #SOTU: We repealed the core of disastrous Obamacare — the individual mandate is now gone.
FACT CHECK: False – The individual mandate of $695 is still in effect for those uninsured in 2018. The mandate ends in 2019

Trump reading the teleprompter is an odd thing. He always seems sort of surprised by the next words.
