Exactly three months from today, November 3rd, will be election day. With the time ticking fast, in the next couple of weeks, the big focus will be on Joe Biden’s running mate. There was word the former Vice President would make a decision by this week, but now there is speculation that the search is dragging on longer than anticipated. The Washington Post writes that this is “fueled by a sense, even among Biden’s closest advisers, that Biden is entering the final phase of the search without a clear favorite.” But a reminder, it’s not unusual for candidates to announce their running mate shortly before the convention begins. The Democratic National Convention kicks off August 17th.

Meanwhile, The Hill points out there is “persistent speculation that Donald Trump will drop Vice President Mike Pence before whatever and wherever the GOP convention commences on August 24.” Chances of this actually happening are slim, though The Hill sarcastically adds, “The rational decision-maker would stick with Pence. This decision, however, will be made by Trump.”

It looks like Trump and/or his campaign, have also made a decision to start airing TV ads again. At least that’s the case in a handful of states with early voting. Politico says: “Trump advisers declined to specify which states the ads would be focused on, but there are several key battlegrounds at the front of the early voting calendar. Either in-person or mail-in voting will begin in Florida, Michigan, North Carolina and Pennsylvania by the end of September.”

The New York Times says, “The Trump campaign is pressing a similar message as before, arguing that Mr. Biden is pushing policies of the “radical left” and his agenda would make the country less safe.” It looks like the factually incorrect defund the police ad is finally off the air, at least for now.
