It’s not exactly steeped in policy, homey images of Americana or family values, but Valerie Plame has released one terrific ad to start her campaign.  In a great metaphorical flourish, she’s driving a car in reverse to symbolize the direction of the country.

Plame is running for Congress in New Mexico.  She’s a Democrat who was outed as a CIA operative during the Bush administration when her former husband, Joseph Wilson, wrote an op-ed questioning the rationale behind the U.S. invasion of Iraq.  Soon after the op-ed, Plame’s name was leaked to the Washington Post.

No one was ever prosecuted for the leak, but in the ad, Plame points the finger at Scooter Libby, former VP Dick Cheney’s chief of staff.  Libby was convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice.  He was pardoned by Donald Trump.
