Jon Stewart went back in front of TV cameras for a cause he has long championed. For years he has fought side by side with 9/11 first responders to get them the health care he says they deserve. It wasn’t until 2015 that they were able to get the World Trade Center Health Program in place. The program means those suffering from illnesses related to 9/11 get medical benefits.

Now as The Hill reports, “The Trump administration is considering a reorganization that would move the 9/11 health-care program from oversight by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), a worker safety agency.”

Today Stewart appeared in Washington DC with lawmakers who say Trump’s budget director Mick Mulvaney is behind this controversial move. The former “Daily Show” host said:

“It is a special kind of incompetence that takes a program that was fought for for 15 years by firefighters, police officers, first responders, veterans, and survivors, that has finally come to fruition and is finally working well. It’s a special incompetence to want to turn that upside down.”
