The pattern is as repetitive as it is sickening; a mass shooting in America followed by the revelation that the murderer carried out his crime with an assault rifle.  President Biden has proposed banning the war weapons but, in a repetition of every mass slaughter, the GOP loves to claim a ban would  take away Second Amendment rights.  Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), a veteran who served three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, breaks it down in simple terms:

“There’s a reason I didn’t take my deer hunting rifle to Baghdad and Afghanistan, and there’s a reason I didn’t take my military assault rifle to deer hunt. They’re vastly different weapons, to do vastly different things.”
