The tables are turned on Stephen Colbert as he sits down for an hour-long interview with Anderson Cooper. Cooper says a lot of what Colbert said “stopped him in his tracks.” The interview mostly tackles what it’s like to host Late Night in the Trump era. Colbert tells Cooper that his show has basically become a way to “the audience is not crazy, how you feel is actually how you feel, how you think is actually how you think… what you see is actually happening, what you are hearing is actually what he said.” He goes on to say.

“Our President wants to live in a fantasy world where only the way he perceives the world is the way it is, only the things that sort of serve his vision, and he’s also trying to convince us that that is the only world that exists…but he’s also trying to invite us into this madness that he has and that’s heresy against reality”

Colbert also said he would not have Trump back on his show “because it would be hard for me to be properly respectful of the office because I think he is so disrespectful of the office that it’s hard to perceive him as I’d want to perceive a president in terms of their status and dignity… So I think just for safety sake, it wouldn’t be a good idea.”
