For the record, Donald Trump flew to Southern California today to hold a roundtable discussion on border issues and to see the progress of a border barrier. It was not new barrier but replacement for an existing one, a fact the border patrol confirmed earlier this year.

Ah, but when Trump arrived, there was a plaque commemorating it the wall.

But we digress. There was also an unpublished plan. Trump owns a golf course in Southern California. And ironically, Trump had a two-hour hole in his schedule Friday evening. The airspace above the course was closed for a “VIP.” The course was also closed as were hiking trails near the facility. But White House officials declined to say where he’d be after the border event.

Turns out, he hopped up to Beverly Hills first for a private fundraiser at the home of a health care executive. And then, it was back in the air to…Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes.

It was after dark when he arrived so this wasn’t about playing golf. This was about his business. His son Eric was there as were members of the local city council and supporters. Why?

From the Washington Post:

“Trump’s visit comes as his golf club faces a decision about its future. The city recently granted approvals for 23 new home lots near the course — which would bring in new revenue, but also crowd the bucolic seaside landscape that appeals to golfers.

“Trump’s company needs to decide whether to build on the lots, or sell them empty, or save them for later. Before he became president, that would be exactly the kind of decision that would bring Trump to his club.”

But Trump supposedly turned over the day to day operation of his company to his eldest sons. He wouldn’t make a cross-country trip at taxpayer expense to check in on his real estate, would he?

For the record, this was the 232nd day Trump has spent at one of his properties since becoming president.
