She’s fallen a long way. GOP Senator Susan Collins of Maine has become, according to a new Morning Consult Poll, the most unpopular Senator in America.

Steven Dennis of Bloomberg writes on Twitter that Collins fall has been “stunning.”

“In the fall of 2015, Susan Collins scored a 78% approval rating, and just 16% disapproval. She was the most popular Republican in the Senate in her home state, despite representing blue Maine.

Latest polling by Morning Consult has Susan Collins as the most unpopular senator in America, with 52% disapproval, beating out McConnell’s 50%. (Her approval at 42% is higher than a bunch of other senators but still down 36 points from 2015).

The Hill writes, “Collins’s net approval rating has dropped 10 points in her state since the end of September, a sign of the intense fire she has taken from critics since the House launched its impeachment inquiry.

Last week, Collins downplayed new evidence from Lev Parnas, an associate of Rudy Giuliani.

But in a statement Thursday afternoon, Collins said: “it is likely that I would support a motion to call witnesses” after both the House impeachment managers and Trump’s lawyers have made their opening arguments and senators have had a chance to ask questions.
