It’s not just Minneapolis. In Louisville, Kentucky protesters marched over the killing of a black ER technician by white police officers. The Louisville Courier Journal writes:
Gunfire erupted after hundreds of protesters took to the streets demanding justice for Breonna Taylor, who in March was shot and killed in her apartment by Louisville police — one of several deaths of unarmed African Americans drawing national attention in recent weeks.
Anger over the deaths boiled over in protests across the U.S. on Thursday evening, including the violent clash on Louisville’s streets that, as of early Friday morning, had left at least one gunshot victim in critical condition. Louisville police did not shoot their guns, according to an LMPD spokesperson.
According to a lawsuit filed by Taylor’s family accusing three Louisville police officers of wrongful death, excessive force, and gross negligence, the young award-winning EMT died after what appears to be one of the more unnecessary and botched police raids in recent memory, no matter who tells the story.
The three white police officers behind the shooting are on administrative leave but have not been arrested.
Last night protestors chanted, “no justice, no peace, prosecute police.”
