There won’t be a big crowd at Joe Biden’s inauguration and that is just the way he and his team want it. NBC News reports:

There will be pomp, ceremony, former presidents, congressional leaders, A-list performers, parades and tributes to the troops — but before a small, socially distanced audience in a city that has been locked down because of the dual threats of the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed over 400,000 people in the U.S., and possible domestic terrorism after the deadly violence at the U.S. Capitol.

While Donald Trump had trouble attracting celebrities to his inauguration four years ago, Biden didn’t seem to have any trouble getting A-list talent. Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Garth Brooks will all performing during Biden’s swearing-in.

Instead of people, the National Mall will be packed with flags.

There will also be a parade though it will be mostly virtual. The theme is “Parade Across America” and the Biden Inauguration committee says it will include Americans and performances representing all 56 U.S. states and territories, a first for inaugural parades. Actor Tony Goldwyn will host the event with Jon Stewart, New Radicals, Earth Wind & Fire, and Nile Rodgers all making appearances. The focus will also be on recognizing heroes around the country.

And the day will end with a 90-minute “Celebrating America Primetime Special” at 8:30pm. It will be hosted by Tom Hanks and feature remarks from President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris. Jon Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters, John Legend, Eva Longoria, Demi Lovato, Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, and Kerry Washington are all expected to take part. It’s expected to be broadcast on all the major networks, with the exception of Fox News. It will also be streaming on multiple channels.
