The Biden administration is moving up vaccine eligibility once again. President Joe Biden had said every adult would be able to be vaccinated by May 1st, but now he is moving that goal up 11 days. He made the announcement at the White House after returning from a trip to a vaccination site in Alexandria, Virginia.

“By no later than April 19th, in every part of this country, every adult over the age of 18, 18 or older, will be eligible to be vaccinated. No more confusing rules. No more confusing restrictions.”

The AP reports:

Biden added that while his administration is on schedule to meet his new goal of distributing 200 million doses of the vaccine during his first 100 days, it will still take time for enough Americans to get vaccinated to slow the spread of the virus.

The president again emphasized his hope that people will be able to safely gather in small groups by July 4th, “I want to have an Independence Day, an independence from the covid.”
