Rep. Liz Cheney is addressing the allegations against Matt Gaetz for the first time. On CBS’ Face The Nation today she stated:

“As the mother of daughters, the charges certainly are sickening. As the Speaker noted there is an ethics investigation underway, there are criminal investigations underway, and I’m not going to comment further on that publicly right now.”

Cheney also slammed Donald Trump for continuing to push conspiracy theories about the election. His latest comments were made over the weekend at a Republican donors retreat.

Trump went off script tonight at RNC donor retreat and litigated election again, saying without proof it was “rigged” and “bullshit.” Not in prepared remarks. Went through state by state, per attendee. Talked about “Oprah Winfrey and Barack Hussein Obama” helping Abrams in GA.

In response to those remarks, the Wyoming Republican asserted:

“The former president is using the same language that he knows provoked violence on Jan. 6. As a party, we need to be focused on the future. We need to be focused on embracing the Constitution, not embracing insurrection.”
