Almost every national poll that has come out since the first presidential debate swing in Joe Biden’s favor. Before Donald Trump calls this #FakeNews, take note of the latest poll from the president’s favorite polling agency, Rasmussen. The company writes:

President Trump’s debate performance followed by his coronavirus diagnosis appear to be digging an even deeper hole for him this week. Democrat Joe Biden now has a 12-point lead over the president in Rasmussen Reports’ weekly White House Watch survey.

The latest national telephone and online survey finds Biden leading President Trump 52% to 40% among Likely U.S. Voters.

This follows a poll from CNN released Tuesday that shows Biden with a 16% advantage.

But even with a growing lead, it’s important not to put too much stock into any of these polls. Rasmussen notes, “At this point 4 years ago, we had Mrs. Clinton up by 7.” And there was a lot of talk that the CNN poll is an outlier. The Washington Post writes:

It didn’t take long for people to dump cold water on enthusiastic Biden supporters. In mid-October 2016, after all, CBS News released a poll showing Hillary Clinton leading Trump by 14 points — and we know how that turned out. The central lesson from 2016 for many observers was that things can change dramatically and rapidly, and nothing should be taken for granted.
