Democrats Release Impeachment Report, Cite Trump For Obstruction And Withholding Aid

Welcome

WASHINGTON, DC - NOVEMBER 13: (L-R) Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), Democratic Counsel Daniel Goldman, Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA), Ranking Member Devin Nunes (R-CA) and Republican Counsel Steve Castor listen to top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine William B. Taylor Jr. testify during the first public hearings held by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence as part of the impeachment inquiry into U.S. President Donald Trump on Capitol Hill November 13, 2019 in Washington, DC. In the first public impeachment hearings in more than two decades, House Democrats are trying to build a case that President Donald Trump committed extortion, bribery or coercion by trying to enlist Ukraine to investigate his political rival in exchange for military aide and a White House meeting that Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky sought with Trump. The report is in from Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee and it is damning for Donald Trump.

From NBC News.

The 300-page report cited two instances of improper conduct: obstruction of the House inquiry and withholding an official White House meeting and military aid from Ukraine on the condition of investigating a Trump political rival.

On obstruction, the reports says, “No other President has flouted the Constitution and power of Congress to conduct oversight to this extent.”

The report also shows a timeline of Trump’s efforts to withhold military aid from Ukraine. The report notes:

“In making the decision to move forward, we were struck by the fact that the President’s misconduct was not an isolated occurrence, nor was it the product of a naïve president.”

“President Trump does not appear to believe there is any such limitation on his power to use White House meetings, military aid or other official acts to procure foreign help in his reelection.”

But most surprisingly in the report are records of phone calls.
