History in America, again. The first female Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen was sworn in today by the first female Vice President. The swearing-in ended with two lines we’ve never heard before:

VP Kamala Harris: “Congratulations, Madam Secretary”

Treasury Secretary Yellen: “Thank you, Madam Vice President”

The New York Times points out, “Yellen is the nation’s 78th Treasury secretary and the first woman to assume that role in the institution’s 232-year history. She is also the first woman to have held all three top economic jobs in the government, having served as chair of the Federal Reserve and the Council of Economic Advisers.”
