This was yet another bad day for the Trump campaign’s legal effort to overturn Joe Biden’s win. The New York Times reports:
The Trump campaign and its Republican allies lost four legal challenges to the election in four states in a little more than an hour on Friday evening as President Trump’s attempts to use the courts to overturn the election results drew ever closer to an end.
The defeats came in Minnesota, Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin. Then around 7pm on Friday, a judge in Arizona tossed another case.
While the cases across the country are going nowhere, the lawyers are getting rich.
Reuters reports the Trump campaign has so far spent more than $9 million in its bid to over the election results, including $2.3 million to lawyers involved in the efforts.
Jenna Ellis, one of the more outspoken attorneys was paid $168,000 for October and November.
Reuters writes: “Legal consulting was the campaign’s second-biggest recount expense, according to the disclosure report. The first was $3 million to pay the cost of a partial recount in Wisconsin that ended up increasing Biden’s lead by 87 votes. The third largest recount expense was nearly $2.2 million for text message advertising as the campaign bombarded his supporters with requests for money.”
