It didn’t take long after Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) announced his retirement for people to start speculating about who could fill his Republican seat in the 2022 election.

Twitter’s fan favorite, as of Thursday, seems to be L.A. Lakers’ Lebron James, as reported The Hill.

This wouldn’t be the first time the 36-year-old Akron native and vocal Trump dissident has been urged to run for office.

Last year, Houston Rockets player DeMarcus Cousins suggested James make a run for the Oval Office. The Lakers star went on the record then as saying he was not considering it.

By Monday evening, though, King James was still silent on whether or not he’d be stepping up to accept the proffered political crown.
