CNBC: Jobless claims fell again last week as employment picture continues to improve
First-time claims for unemployment insurance were expected to total 603,000 for the week ended April 17, according to economists surveyed by Dow Jones.
This is a new pandemic low. The Wall Street Journal quotes Daniel Zhao, a senior economist at jobs website Glassdoor:
“We’re still pretty deep into the hole created by the pandemic. But at the same time, there is more optimism now than at any other point in the pandemic.”
