Secretary Ryan Zinke allegedly made dismissive comments about the need for diversity, saying something along the lines of “diversity isn’t important.” The Interior Department recently reassigned 33 senior executive staffers, of which 15 were minorities, and the department has about 68,000 employees, of which more than 70 percent are white.
