A Yale psychiatrist has been making headlines of late because she is raising the alarm about the mental health of Donald Trump.  This is not exactly making her beloved among her peers who have said it’s unethical to speak about the mental health of a public figure she has not examined in person and from whom she has not obtained consent.  But Dr. Bandy Lee thinks Trump’s mental state is “an emergency.”  Lee has spoken to members of Congress where a growing number of lawmakers are openly talking about the 25th Amendment to the Constitution.  The 25th, according to Politico, “allows for the removal of the president from office if the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet deem him physically or mentally ‘unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”’

The publication of Michael Wolff’s book has only added fuel to the fire.  It portrays Trump as angry, out of touch and ill-informed, just to name a few not-so-nice attributes.  Add to that the string of insulting tweets from Trump and you have a country more on edge every day.  And now a group of psychiatrists, led by Dr. Lee, is calling for Trump to have an emergency psychiatric evaluation.  Late last year she published a collection of essays from 27 psychiatrists called The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump.   She recently spoke to Vox about Trump’s mental stability.  It’s an interview worth your time.
