Mitch McConnell Will Accompany Joe Biden To Church On Morning Of Inauguration

Welcome

Joe Biden’s inauguration day message is unity and it looks like that call for unity will kick off early Wednesday morning as leaders from both political parties join the president-elect at church. Current Senate Majority Mitch McConnell is among those who reportedly will be in attendance.

Even though Chuck Schumer will be taking over the reigns as Majority Leader, Biden’s relationship with McConnell will be key. NBC News recently wrote: With a closely divided Senate, their personal dealings will be key to just how much, if any, of the new president’s agenda can be accomplished.

Those who know both men say they have a mutual respect and built a level of trust between them over the years — which could be key in being able to facilitate agreements.

The symbolism alone of seeing the men together tomorrow morning will send a message that the country needs right now, that the two sides can still get along and work together. By contrast, Donald Trump had a contentious relationship from day one with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. The two haven’t spoken since October 2019. Trump also refused to attend Joe Biden’s inauguration.
