Nikki Haley Says Confederate Flag Was About “Service, Sacrifice And Heritage”

Welcome

NEW YORK, NY - APRIL 14: United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley listens during a United Nations Security Council emergency meeting concerning the situation in Syria, at United Nations headquarters, April 14, 2018 in New York City. Yesterday the United States and European allies Britain and France launched airstrikes in Syria as punishment for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's suspected role in last week's chemical weapons attacks that killed upwards of 40 people. Nikki Haley may want to brush up on the history of the Confederate flag. The former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations told Glenn Beck the Confederate flag didn’t have anything negative associated with it until Dylan Roof, a white supremacist, killed nine African-Americans in a South Carolina church four years ago.

The Confederate flag has long been a reminder of slavery and a symbol of racism. And it’s often used as a symbol for white supremacists. This isn’t a new idea. It actually can be traced all the way back to the man who created the flag. The Los Angeles Time points out:

The white rectangle symbolizes the “supremacy of the white man,” according to William T. Thompson, the flag’s designer. “As a people we are fighting to maintain the Heaven-ordained supremacy of the white man over the inferior or colored race.”

Deep State Radio host David Rothkopf writes:

Obscene. Ahistorical. It’s the battle flag of the fight to preserve slavery. The confederate flag is about racism, oppression, and cruelty. It should be draped on the coffin of Nikki Haley’s political career. Thanks to this statement alone she has no future in national office.
