NYT: Tillerson On The Way Out, Replaced By CIA’s Pompeo

Welcome

You knew this was coming, right?  Calling the boss an “f’ing moron” will sometimes get you fired, and that’s apparently what’s going down.  The New York Times is reporting that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is on his way out as Donald Trump has “soured” on the Texas oil exec.  To replace him, Trump will nominate CIA Director Mike Pompeo.

Tillerson has been in charge of shrinking the staff at the State Department, much to the chagrin of longtime diplomats who fear America’s standing in world order is taking a beating.  The Washington Post recently reported that Congress is wading into this mess with senators from both parties wondering why there’s a hiring freeze as well as declining morale, recruitment and retention levels on Tillerson’s watch.  The question has long been, is Tillerson the problem or are the changes being directed from the White House?
