It’s one thing not to have a national strategy on testing for coronavirus, or to have shortages of PPE five months into a pandemic, or to have millions unemployed, down to their last few dollars, about to be evicted.

But now that the virus is out of control in parts of the country, there is not even the most basic acknowledgement from the White House of the sickness and death that go with this horrific disease. No words of comfort, or support.

According to the New York Times, 18 states set daily coronavirus case records in the last week. More than 73,000 cases were reported nationwide on Friday, nearing a record set just a week ago. Florida has now surpassed New York for the most cases.

Add all that up and you would think a president up for re-election and having his ass handed to him in the polls would want to at least appear to be involved in finding solutions to any of the above tragedies. Alas, no.

Here is what Donald Trump was doing today, That’s him below at his New Jersey club playing golf with former NFL quarterback Brett Favre. This is an official White House photo.

Perhaps Donald Trump has given up, thrown in the towel. The Washington Post reports that this has been Trump’s week of retreat. His bluster has been used for more than three years to get his way around Washington, but this week he has caved on his convention in Florida, retreated on a payroll tax cut, and has suddenly become a big supporter of wearing masks.
