President Biden’s two-day barnstorming tour of the American West found him in Colorado Wednesday, warning of the impact climate change is having on the planet and touting the benefits of renewable energy sources like wind power.

While visiting the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) facility in Arvada, home to the National Wind Technology Center, the president couldn’t resist taking a not-so-subtle jab at former President Donald Trump’s bizarre and false claim that windmills pose a danger to humans.

“And I might add, windmills do not cause cancer. Look, we got to get real about what’s going on…”

President Joe Biden

Climate change is a major factor in the approximately $1 trillion infrastructure bill that the Senate passed last month and the House has yet to vote on. Biden said the bill has the biggest federal commitment to power transition in the history of the nation, that will improve the power grid and create stable, well-paying jobs.

Back in 2019, Trump said noise from windmills was carcinogenic. From Politifact:

“If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75 percent in value,” Trump told his fellow Republicans April 2.  “And they say the noise causes cancer.”

The claim is false.
