Three students remain hospitalized in Colorado this morning as we learn more about the shooting at STEM School Highlands Ranch. Eight people were injured and one killed after two people opened fire inside the Denver area school Tuesday. An 18-year-old male is in custody, and today it was revealed the younger suspect is a girl.

The suspects were said to be carrying handguns. An armed security guard was on campus, and while no gunfire was exchanged, that guard was reportedly able to detain one of the suspects until police arrived.

According to police, the student who died in the shooting helped save others when he lunged at the suspect while others ran to safety. Kendrick Castillo was just three days from graduation.
