Joe Biden never mentioned the name of his opponent. But in accepting the Democratic nomination for president, he spent a lot of time talking about the failures of “the current occupant” of the White House.

Joseph R. Biden, Jr. made sure Donald Trump wouldn’t be a central figure in the speech. Instead Biden spent much of the time looking forward. Biden made his speech in Wilmington, Delaware in a large room with only a handful of reporters and television support crew.

Biden said he would be “an ally of the light, not of the darkness. He called November 3rd a “life changing election.”
