From all walks of life and both sides of the border they came to help Antonio Basco through what would have been a lonely day. Basco’s wife, Margie Reckard, was murdered in the El Paso Walmart on August 4th. They had no family so Basco invited everyone to his wife’s funeral. On Friday afternoon when Basco arrived, more than 700 people were lined up outside to offer condolences.

Inside the funeral home was packed with flowers from around the world.

Basco and Reckard had been married more than twenty years. He said of her, “She was an angel.”
