Trump Calls Democrats Treasonous For Not Applauding During State Of The Union Speech

Welcome

WASHINGTON, DC - JANUARY 30: U.S. President Donald J. Trump delivers the State of the Union address as U.S. Vice President Mike Pence (L) and Speaker of the House U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) (R) look on in the chamber of the U.S. House of Representatives January 30, 2018 in Washington, DC. The President traveled to Cincinnati today to visit a company where workers received a bonus after the passage of the tax cut bill.  Pretty routine stuff, but in the land of the abnormal, no day is routine.

As Trump is delivering the speech, a bit of bad news rolled in.  The stock market was tanking.  Trump, who has taken credit for the market’s rise, was silent on today’s record-breaking drop.  And just to grab a headline and feed red meat to his base, he tosses in this zinger.  During his State of the Union speech, Democrats sat on their hands.  It happens in every State of the Union speech for the party out of power.  Republicans spent plenty of time on their hands during the Obama era.   But Trump said the Dems behavior was un-American and maybe even treasonous.

“They were like death and un-American. Un-American. Somebody said, ‘treasonous.’ I mean, Yeah, I guess why not? Can we call that treason? Why not? I mean they certainly didn’t seem to love our country that much.”  –Donald Trump, Feb. 5, 2018

Is it just us or is this feeling more and more like a dictatorship every day?

Remember when his son met with the Russians during the campaign?  Hey, that’s politics.

There’s a Grand Canyon of difference between treason and dissent, between treason and disagreement.  What a terrible message that sent to the country.
