Donald Trump let it be known that he is no longer interested in negotiating with Democrats on more stimulus money until after the election. Four weeks out there was a wide-eyed reaction of disbelief from Republicans who are sinking across the board,

Axios writes;

Several Trump advisers are utterly perplexed by the president’s decision today to pull Republicans out of coronavirus stimulus negotiations. “You have to try to be this politically inept,” a campaign adviser told Axios’ Jonathan Swan. “What is going on in the White House? Where is Mark Meadows?” One GOP lawmaker told Axios’ Alayna Treene that this is “a gift” for Pelosi.

Add to this Fed Chairman Jerome Powell said today is the U.S. economy is in for a “longer than expected slog back to full recovery” and that there’s little risk of “overdoing” economic support, writes Axios.

CNN writes that Powell believes the virus needs to be managed for the economy to succeed.

A second wave of coronavirus could “more significantly limit economic activity, not to mention the tragic effects on lives and well-being,” Powell said. “Managing this risk as the expansion continues will require following medical experts’ guidance, including using masks and social-distancing measures.” (Emphasis ours)
