Trump Facing Backlash After 9/11 Tweets And Fist Pumps

Welcome

SHANKSVILLE, PA - SEPTEMBER 11:President Donald J. Trump gives a thumbs-up to supporters after delivering a speech at the Flight 93 National Memorial commemorating the 17th Anniversary of the crash of Flight 93 and the September 11th terrorist attacks on September 11, 2018 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The nation is marking the seventeenth anniversary of the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, when the terrorist group al-Qaeda flew hijacked airplanes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, killing nearly 3,000 people. It is perhaps not the image the White House wanted to convey, but nonetheless there it is, the president fist pumping upon arrival at a 9/11 memorial service in Shanksville, Pa.  Fist pumps are for football games, or getting a raise or celebrating an accomplishment.  But a memorial service?

Trump traveled to Shanksville, Pa., for a service at the sight of the United flight 93 crash. It was supposed to be a solemn occasion.

Before the fist pumps, the day was already off to a rocky start.   On the 17th anniversary of the attack on America, Donald Trump began the day by tweeting out Fox “news” conspiracy theories on the Russia investigation, and Hillary Clinton.

He followed it up with another gem, “17 years since September 11th!” (exclamation point his)

But it was the double fist pump that sent eyes rolling again.

Trump was also photographed giving the thumbs up at the memorial site.  The occasion was supposed to be about paying tribute to 40 heroes whose overtook hijackers who had seized control of the passenger jet.  Earlier this week a memorial tower was dedicated to the victims of Flight 93.
