Univision Anchor Detained In Venezuela

Welcome

DUBUQUE, IA - AUGUST 25: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump fields a question from Univision and Fusion anchor Jorge Ramos during a press conference held before his campaign event at the Grand River Center on August 25, 2015 in Dubuque, Iowa. Earlier in the press conference Trump had Ramos removed from the room when he failed to yield when Trump wanted to take a question from a different reporter. Univision journalist Jorge Ramos was detained in Caracas tonight along with his crew shortly after taping an interview with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Apparently Maduro didn’t like the questions. They were released but the government kept their equipment and cell phones.

This isn’t the first time Ramos has been scolded by a politician for trying to ask a tough question. Back in 2015, Donald Trump threw Ramos out of a campaign event telling him to “Go back to Univision.” At the time Ramos told CNN:

“I knew it was going to be tough… I knew… he wasn’t going to like it. But I never expected that instead of answering my questions, he was going to call his security detail to throw me out.”
