For the first time since election day, the current Vice President has connected with the incoming Vice President. The Associated Press cites two people familiar with the conversation as saying that Mike Pence called Kamala Harris to offer congratulations.

One of the people familiar with the Thursday afternoon conversation described it as a “good call,” with Pence congratulating his successor and offering assistance. They spoke on condition of anonymity to describe the private conversation.

The New York Times adds that “Pence and his wife, Karen, may have Ms. Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, over to the vice-presidential residence before the inauguration on Wednesday, according to one official. But those plans remain uncertain, in part because of the security threats posed to the nation’s capital have made scheduling fluid.”

While Donald Trump won’t be attending the inauguration, Pence will be there.
