Bruce Springsteen’s “The Rising” Captures Convention Message

Bruce Springsteen’s song “The Rising” became an anthem of sorts for the opening night of the Democratic National Convention. The song, which was initially released back in 2002 as a message to “Rise Up” after 9/11 was repurposed in a video last night. NJ.com writes:

“The Rising” played over footage of various scenes, including Black Lives Matter protesters; detained children; frontline workers in the COVID pandemic; a George Floyd mural; a Breonna Taylor memorial; a man holding up a sign outside Morristown Medical Center thanking emergency room workers for saving his wife’s life; and a brief clip of Springsteen himself with his wife and E Street bandmate Patti Scialfa.
