Cindy McCain made the talk show rounds this morning to talk about her decision to enthusiastically endorse Joe Biden for president. She said this will be the first time she has voted for a Democratic candidate since she was 18 years old. Here’s what John McCain’s widow told CBS This Morning (watch above):

“Come with me. Let’s vote for Joe Biden. Our country needs a new beginning. We need someone with character, integrity, and empathy, as well. And so I hope you will join me in voting for a man I think would be a marvelous president.”

And during an appearance on the Today Show, McCain weighed in on whether The Atlantic report that Donald Trump called soldiers “losers” and “suckers” played into her decision. She replied, “Pretty much… It’s a combination of things, but I do believe that our men and women that serve in the military are not losers and certainly the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice are not losers.”

And McCain says she will be out on the campaign trail trying to sway a group that Trump has been trying to woo:

“I‘m going to do as much as I can. I’m hoping that I can convince suburban women who are kind of on the fence about things to come with me on this and step out of their comfort zone, and join team Biden and vote a man in who would be not only a marvelous president who shows the character, the integrity, the values and the wherewithal to be president.”

It seems clear that Trump may have caught some of McCain’s appearances this morning. His response was predictable.

But Trump may want to pay attention to McCain’s endorsement. It could hurt him in Arizona, a state where he is running neck and neck with Biden.
