Donald Trump and his campaign wasted no time attacking Joe Biden’s choice for Vice President, Senator Kamala Harris. During a news conference, Trump fell back on a term he often uses when referring to strong women, “nasty.” He said (watch above):

“She was extraordinarily nasty to Kavanaugh, Judge Kavanaugh, now Justice Kavanaugh. She was nasty to a level that was just a horrible thing the way she was, the way she treated now-Justice Kavanaugh. And I won’t forget that soon.”

Within minutes of Biden making his announcement, Trump also put a video on his Twitter account bashing the California senator and adding the juvenile nicknames he is known for, in this case, he went with “Slow Joe and phony Kamala.”

Trump’s campaign also released this statement, repeating the negative nickname.

While Team Trump is acting like Harris is an easy target, speculation is that Trump isn’t happy about Harris being on the ticket and sees it as a threat. NBC News writes:

The early attacks painted a conflicting portrait of Harris and indicated that Trump’s campaign has not yet settled on a coherent and consistent way to criticize of her.

They add this is especially the case when it comes to her record as a prosecutor.

“This really puts the Trump campaign in a box: whether you portray her as pro-police or anti-police,” said Dan Eberhart, a Republican donor and Trump supporter. “They are going to have to decide.”
