As pressure rises for Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign amidst sexual harassment allegations, accusations against the youngest member of Congress don’t seem to be getting much attention. CNN writes:

Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn is facing allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct by several women who say he put them in uncomfortable situations when he was a college student, with the former classmates detailing to CNN on Monday how the rising star of the conservative right would use “fun” drives as a way to make unwanted advances on them.

CNN adds “allegations from Cawthorn’s time in college were widely known among former students — so much so that in October, more than 150 former students signed onto a letter blasting the then-candidate for his behavior during his stint at the school, which they wrote “was marked by gross misconduct towards our female peers.”  The North Carolina Congressman has denied the allegations (watch CNN’s report on this above).

In the last few days, it’s also been revealed that Cawthorn also lied about the details surrounding the car accident that left him paralyzed. According to The Washington Post, Cawthorn says his close friend who was driving when the accident occurred, ran from the car and left him to die. He then said he was  “declared dead.” He made these revelations during a speech in 2017, but the publication writes, “Key parts of Cawthorn’s talk, however, were not true.”

The friend, Bradley Ledford, who has not previously spoken publicly about the chapel speech, said in an interview that Cawthorn’s account was false and that he pulled Cawthorn from the wreckage. An accident report obtained by The Washington Post said Cawthorn was “incapacitated,” not that he was declared dead.

Cawthorn’s “story” was a big part of his campaign for Congress.

While ring-wing outlets and mainstream media outlets are rightfully scrutinizing allegations against Cuomo, the accusations against Hawthorn aren’t getting much attention at all.

Fox News had the perfect opportunity to ask Cawthorn about the reports surrounding him, but they didn’t even broach the topic.
