Edward Snowden Defends His Actions, Say Digital Devices Have Taken Away Our Privacy

Edward Snowden is in living in exile, but still managing to promote his upcoming memoir, Permanent Record. The former  contractor for the National Security Agency is talking to the media about his alleged crime, privacy issues and even weighing in on Donald Trump.

On MSNBC, he spoke with Brian Williams (watch above) about stealing classified information from the NSA and giving it to the media. NBC News writes:

Snowden defended his actions as he has in previous interviews. He stressed that his goal was not to destroy the NSA, but instead “reform it.”

In the years since fleeing the United States, Snowden said he has grown increasingly concerned about the way disinformation is infecting American politics. He expressed concern for a world he sees becoming “increasingly fractured,” adding that the idea that feelings matter more than the facts is “toxic to democracy.”

Snowden fled to Russia back in 2013 to escape criminal charges, he talked to CBS This Morning about whether he’d ever return to the United States.
