Kamala Harris Continues Effort To Raise Trust In Vaccine

Kamala Harris received the Moderna vaccine at the United Medical Center in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday and afterward the Vice President-elect remarked, “That was very easy… I barely felt it.”

“I want to encourage everyone to get the vaccine. It is relatively painless, it happens really quickly, it is safe… literally this is about saving lives… I trust the scientists and it is the scientists who created and approved this vaccine.”

According to The Grio, “The venue and the backdrop of her public vaccination was no coincidence. It is meant to combat the mistrust in minority communities with medical trials and other health disparity matters.” The hospital is located in Southeast Washington D.C., a predominantly Black community.  And the nurse who administered the shots to Harris and her husband was Patricia Cummings, a Guyanese immigrant.
